Next stop?... Rockhampton

Well, after we left the "Gunna Go Caravan Park" we headed for Rocky, amazingly nothing too eventful happened to us on the way, I think we stopped in Sarina for peanut butter and honey sandwiches around lunchtime, we found a nice park where someone was having their birthday party, and while we dined on sandwiches and choccy milk (even Sophie had her first!) I decided that if I was going to drive from Rockhampton to Brisbane (over 620km) ,the next day, I was darn well sure I was going to get a good nights sleep!
So after a little web surfing and a few phone calls I booked accommodation at the Sun Palms Hotel Motel. Wagons Ho!! Off we went blissfully enjoying the views of scrub, trucks and roadkill, listening to the peaceful sounds of children complaining and whining because their DVD player didn't work properly or because they were coming down with the bug we had been stowing away in our bodies just for the trip :).
Coming down the infamous Marlborough Stretch, We noticed 3 things, 1. it's not at all, in any way, signposted to say you are now travelling the Marlborough stretch.?  2. we had the makings of  1   2  3 Dirty great big cracks in our windscreen. and 3. they had some amusing anti-fatigue signs posted along the way, I tried to take photos, but couldn't quite get one good enough, things like "Are we there yet Mum?" "How much longer Dad?" and " Still a long way to Rocky yet kids!" or my favourite "Only 3 hours to Rockhampton" - I like the  'only' part!

So into Rocky we come, driving down the main street 'Selena' our GPS navigator reminding us to turn left here and 3rd exit there, when all of a sudden "BING BING BING" goes 'Selena' Arghh! says mum! What's that! Gees we almost drove into the sign post! AND we missed our turnoff! It turns out 'Selena' was warning us of a speed camera, rather she didn't surprise us like that next time!
The whole time we are also keeping an eye out for "The Big Bull." We are seeing plenty of medium to cow size bulls, but nothing big like I was expecting. Oh well, there's always tomorrow. It was after 4pm by now, so we head over to the Sun Palms. Ahhh Air con/doors and LIGHTS! what more could a girl want? We unpack, explore our new 'house' which by the way had a spa! AND separate bedroom for the children :D Great, get out the trusty old laptop plug it all in, children are champing at the bit to get into the pool, make a few phone calls/txt messages  to organise 'skype' calls. Get online, yay reception, shut it down and am almost dragged over to the pool where "oh my!" mummy will dip no more then her toes in, after they came out with ice cubes on them! Children are unperturbed, and dive right in, even Claire and Sophie, whom both almost instantly turn blue!  Kaytie does some stellar swimming and after practising across the width of the pool valiantly swims the length    3  4! times. Woo go Kaytie! After some persistent encouraging from Mum, the children reluctantly get out and we head back to our 'house' to get ready for dinner. We decided to go all out and 'splurge' on dinner as we were a little over sandwiches and sausages (and still recovering from spiders!) besides I'm not so good with the 'cook in microwave' type dinners.
Any way off to dinner we head, Just so you know, Samuel decided on BBQ pork and roast vegies, Lily and Kaytie had the Carbonara minus the bacon, though Kaytie had the mushrooms "because  I soooo love mushrooms now mum hey!" Sophie and Claire had the fish and chips. Me? well i had the prosciutto and stuffed mushrooms with chilli chicken tenders or something like that? Mummy gets a drink at the bar, and from what i can figure out recieves a free second drink! woo woo! Quick eat up kids Daddy will be calling soon!! back to the room we head  PJs on ,teeth brushed, lets get online to wait for Daddy! 'CLICK' huh? 'CLICK CLICK' what the hey? No reception or connection for like more then 2 minutes! WHAT!  txt txt  ring ring boo hoo! give number to various concerned parties, waiting...waiting....waiting? eh? knock knock hello.. it's the manager/reception lady 'here you left this at the restaurant and people are calling you, why you no answer?' Cos i no hear ringing!  the phone calls out but doesn't ring in! Gahh! eventually get a working phone say goodnight daddy, goodnight to grandparents, BED you lot!! Bones is on!! - I knew there was a reason I wanted accommodation!! ;)

So an uneventful night, oh except for the fact that Kaytie threw up her dinner! and then twice more : / oh yeah and Sophie fell out of bed, when she wasn't trying to sleep on my head again.
Morning comes and time to pack up, out the door at a reasonable time, let's go find this Bull!  the front desk lady gave us directions so off we went...... huh, that's not a bull? find the info centre - not open yet. D'oh oh well, we'll just find one of those other ones, so we head out of town, but all the bulls we are seeing seem to be in centre islands. Finally we find one semi-accessible and 'come on adventure bears, time for a photo'

Not exactly a 'big' bull, but it's bigger then
the bears and children, so big enough in my opinion.
Plus it has had its boy bits forcibly removed by someone,
which is apparently hilarious to some people???

On the way out of town we spot a pretty BIG bull, but he was perched in the middle of a VERY busy roundabout, so i wasn't trying that one!

OXO Bslkcs
