Nearly there, on the homeward stretch now :)
We left Hay nice and early after a great sleep, even though i did end up with a visitor in my bed, I didn't even notice, When i woke up, I did the panicked mummy voice "Where's Claire?!!" the awake children certainly looked at me strangely, she was right beside me LOL :D
So after Hay, we headed west, well south west i think, The truck was happy with a full tummy, she'd been getting pretty starving as we'd pushed on past her "dinnertime" to get to Hay.
but before we could go, we had to get our souvenirs, you see, it's our "thing" to collect either a stubby cooler/shot glass and a snow dome (generally all 3) of all the places we visit/stop in. I try get the nice ones :D
There are a couple of 'repeats' as we've been to some places a couple times. I have also left out the ones where we haven't actually been too, but have been given to us, they are on the bar..... Yes, bar, This house has a bar - it's a little weird where it is though?? but that's another post. oh yes and that is Jamie with a tiger, thanks to his mum, they did the tiger island thing together, unfortunately all the children were too young at the time to go.
I might need to re-name this post as it's mighty off topic ;P
a little bit more then i'll get back to it.....
I've just thought of a great name i SHOULD have named the blog "We are set for W.A.ndering"
D'oh! I've never loved the name i picked, but at the time i couldn't think of a single other word that started with 'WA' - besides, all my dictionaries were packed ;D Oh well , Don't be surprised if you see some more name changes in the future. :)
Alright back to the point of this....
So ummm....... Oh yes, Hay.
We had to collect our above for-mentioned souvenirs, which gave us a nice tour of the town as we had to got to 3 different places to collect them all !! , Oh, while at the newsagent (stop #2) we also picked up some GREAT school books! some great titles from a hard to find series, oh i could have spent so much time (and money !!) on the books this little outback newsagent had!! :( I was strong in my decisions, but not not strong enough to stay away completely :)
WHOAH!!!!! WAY off track again !!
The 3rd stop i would've liked to have the children experience, but we were on a 'deadline' for Adelaide!
It was the "Shear Outback" Exhibition oh gosh! Amazing! and I only saw the gift shop and foyer!!
oh well opportunities aside it was (South)Westward Ho!
Lot's more big trucks LOTS more Locusts, though never 'en masse' again, a lot of wide load rigs as well, they were fun and interesting to see (not to pass!)
Lots of sleeping by the girls, more beautiful endless landscapes (and so FLAT!) Oh and we got VERY excited when we realised we were crossing the Murry River! - numerous times
After a while we noticed what 'Serena' was 'doing', Samuel and i couldn't figure it out, it looked like another border was coming up, but we were still a few hours from SA?? next thing we know a road sign pops up "Welcome to Victoria" it says. "WHAT!! HUH!! OH GREAT!!" We were thinking 'Serena' was playing tricks on us again. We had put her on 'holidays' for some 'attitude adjustments' for a few hundred km's and we thought she may have been holding a grudge ? well, there was a scramble to find the map Uncle Chris had printed us, and sure enough we were on the right track. In hindsight i realised i knew Mildura was in VIC, but the knowledge and reality, didn't quite 'gel' at that time. (heh heh, sounds like our Public School dealings. heh heh)
So a very excited (and awake) car of QLD'ers stopped for a very late lunch in Mildura at the combined Info centre/Library/pool complex. oh and yes we got our stubby cooler/ snow dome, see if you can find them in the photo.... go on i dare ya!
i'm going to have to leave it here and do a part 2
Are you happy i'm not being the hermit i'd wanted to be ;D in fact this week is very busy with social engagements, but again i'll fill you in asap.
Nighty-night
13 more sleeps til Handsome Hubby is home
Yay! for 3 whole weeks!! Mwahh!! lub you!!
