Thursday 28/10 Australia Zoo
We took 'Aunty' Karen too. She was 'surrogate' mother while i stayed behind the camera ;)
I think the point of 'Cameron' (named after his sculptor), was to demonstrate how big prehistoric crocodiles could/would have been?? we still like them anyway in this family (at least the majority do, hey darling?? ;D )
Next up was elephant feeding time, I was very pleased(and impressed) to find out you can feed the elephants for free at Australia Zoo. With how often people bag out and try discredit the Irwins, deep down I've always believed they are genuine people trying to do the right thing I don't believe that Bindi (especially!!) is used as a puppet/marketing tool. If that's what they were doing, you'd see a lot more of Robert as well. I mean seriously, what little girl (not so little anymore, she'll be 12 soon!) wouldn't want to dance and sing and be on TV?? I know mine would! The Elephants, among other things at the zoo, goes a little way in showing people that. but then as always 'nay-sayers' will always find something to whinge about!?! - I'll step off my little soapbox now :) I bought the photo taken by the Zoo photographers as well, as i was
Next up was the show in the "Crocoseum" Elephants, Snakes, Birds and of course crocodiles (only one actually) How they train the birds is pretty cool, they had the BIG Jabiru take off from the carpark and arrive in the stadium and then after it's little 'display, happily went back into it's travel box?!
Unbelievably (or not?) we didn't actually get to see any crocs, except the crocoseum one, the park is REALLY big. 1 day with 5 kids (or even less?) is just not enough time to see everything 'clearly' enough.
next up - obligatory Feeding time
Next we went to TIGER TEMPLE. Sheesh what a hike that was!!
Nothing much was happening in tiger-town, except for the water dragons! obviously used to people, these little buggers!!
this little fella was so bold! I kid you not there is no 'zoom' in this photo! he (or she?) came so close, i just shoved the camera in it's face and, 'say cheeeeeeese' (or perhaps 'meeeaaattttt'? as they don't eat cheese:P )
and 'click' 'click' 'strike a pose' tah daaah!
We, at some point also had lunch at the foodcourt - it has some cutesy name, but my memory fails me at this time, the children all had a 'croc meal'?? or whatever it was. Yes i was mighty nervous about the contents of said meal, but was relieved to discover it wasn't too "bad" not perfect, but could have been a lot worse for my ''darlin's"
Oh I don't believe i have mentioned at all, that the whole time we had been travelling, (probably from mission beach Grrr ;p ) that one by one, starting with Kaytie, each of the children succumbed to some sort of 'bug' at this present point in our journey, it was Samuel's turn (it was GREAT!! he lost his voice as well - so he couldn't argue with me, for at least 3 days!!) and while he enjoyed his lunch, his stomach didn't, as it promptly returned it about 5 minutes later.... ALL over the cafeteria floor!, he couldn't have aimed for the bin right beside him?? ah well they joys of parenting as they say :)
oh a little F.Y.I for you, in the cafeteria, straws have never been allowed because of the dangers they pose to the animals etc, but.... ICE is no longer provided in drinks either!! apparently some idiots were chucking it at the crocodiles?? Why? Oh why? would you pay $58 to throw things at animals? Obviously someone is going to notice and throw you out? obviously some people are just stoo-pid?!?
Anyhoo, back to the tiger temple for the 'show'
we took the shuttle this time :)by now it was getting on in the day and some of the folk in our little 'party' were quite pooped,
How cute is this little mamma and bub??
Alligators next..... SNAP! SNAP! c'mon Claire, play along :)
Time for home........ oh no wait, we dashed over to the 'hospital' because we'd paid our $2 each for the sneak peek tour, and got to see the sick animals, thankfully not too many there. It's funny how they use regular people stuff for them also, like the humidicribs for the orphan babies etc, while we were there a new 'patient' was brought in after a road 'altercation' we didn't see how it turned out as it was nearly 5 and we didn't want too much crazy brisbane people traffic ;P
time to love ya's and leave ya for now as we need to pack our crap stuff to collect the keys for our "new" house
yayy! woot woot! uh huh, uh huh, Yeah!!
