Babies Proms

Seems such a strange name for it? and the children were mighty confused when i said we would be attending...until they figured out we had seen the DVD version.

No doubt you are a tad confused too now? Babies Proms is an educational performance put on by the Western Australian Youth Orchestra, or WAYO for short.

I am really bummed, because i took a different camera then the one i was used to. The whole performance i was fiddling with the settings to try achieve a decent photo *sigh* it was not to be, but a photo is a photo and we still have our memories.

Sophie got right into it, understandably since it was geared to her age.
though they say 3-11 on the brochure.

At the end of the show, everyone is invited into the orchestra to 'feel' the last song. This overwhelmed the girls a little and they stuck to the fringes, Samuel got in there though, can you spot him? he's wearing a grey/white hat along the back, only his head is peeking through :)

When the crowds thinned a little, some of the musicians let the children try their instruments.

Claire got right into this and could have done it all day.

Sophie on the timpani
ugh, this one refuses to rotate?

So that was our trip to "Babies Proms" if you ever see the DVD at your library, it's well worth borrowing. and if you have some youngun's up to about 8ish or older ones who've never experienced an orchestra it's definitely worth a visit, if it comes to somewhere local
